Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 August 2026

Permana is a spaced repetition learning app. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. It covers the Permana iOS and Android apps and the permana.app website.

Who is responsible

Permana is operated by Barış Hasdemir as an individual developer. For any question about this policy or your data, write to barishasdemir@gmail.com.

What the app collects

DataWhy
Account details. Your email address, and your display name if your sign-in provider supplies one. If you sign in with Apple using Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address. To create your account, keep your progress attached to it, and let you sign in on another device. You can also use the app as a guest, in which case no email is collected.
Your learning content. Decks, cards, quizzes and any images or audio you attach to them. This is the content you create. It is stored so the app can show it back to you.
Study activity. Which cards you reviewed and when, whether you got them right, quiz results, streaks, XP and level. The scheduling algorithm needs your review history to decide when to show a card again. It also powers streaks, levels and achievements.
Device and app information. A randomly generated install identifier, your platform, operating system version and app version. To keep guest accounts working across app launches, and to diagnose problems.
Purchase information. What you bought and whether a subscription is active. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details. To unlock what you paid for and restore it when you reinstall.
Advertising identifiers. Only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. See the advertising section below.

Text you send to the AI feature

When you use AI card or quiz generation, the text you provide is sent to Google's Gemini API through our server so it can be turned into cards. Only that text is sent. It is not attached to your name or email, and it is not used to train our own systems. Google's handling of API data is covered by their Gemini API terms. Do not paste sensitive personal information into the AI generator.

Advertising

The free version of Permana shows ads through Google AdMob. On iOS you will be asked whether Permana may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, or never answer, Permana requests non-personalised ads only, which do not use your advertising identifier for profiling. Buying Permana Pro or the No Ads purchase removes ads entirely.

Google's use of advertising data is described in how Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services.

Who your data is shared with

Permana does not sell your data and does not share it for advertising purposes beyond what is described above. Data is processed by these providers on our behalf:

How long it is kept

Your account and learning data are kept until you delete them. If you ask us to delete your account, everything tied to it is removed from our systems, normally within 30 days. Guest accounts that are never signed in to may be removed after a period of inactivity.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to barishasdemir@gmail.com from the address on your account and we will action it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Permana is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top will change and the app will point you at the new version. Continuing to use Permana after that means you accept the updated policy.
