Permana is a spaced repetition learning app. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. It covers the Permana iOS and Android apps and the permana.app website.

When you use AI card or quiz generation, the text you provide is sent to Google's Gemini API through our server so it can be turned into cards. Only that text is sent. It is not attached to your name or email, and it is not used to train our own systems. Google's handling of API data is covered by their Gemini API terms. Do not paste sensitive personal information into the AI generator.
When you attach a photo or a sound to a card or a quiz question, that file is uploaded to our own server, hosted with DigitalOcean in Amsterdam. We do this so your decks look the same on every device you sign in on. Before this, attachments never left the phone, which meant they disappeared when you switched devices.
Your attachments are private to your account. Every request for a file has to carry your signed-in credentials, and the server checks on each request that the file belongs to you. There is no public link: someone who somehow obtained the address of your file still cannot open it without being signed in as you. Uploading and deleting are protected the same way.
Attachments are limited to 15MB each and must be an image, an audio file or a video. When you delete your account we delete your files with it.
The free version of Permana shows ads through Google AdMob. On iOS you will be asked whether Permana may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, or never answer, Permana requests non-personalised ads only, which do not use your advertising identifier for profiling. Buying Permana Pro or the No Ads purchase removes ads entirely.

Permana does not sell your data and does not share it for advertising purposes beyond what is described above. Data is processed by these providers on our behalf:

Permana has one operator, the developer named above. There is an internal admin tool that can list accounts and open the decks, cards and quizzes on an account, so that support requests can be answered, abuse can be handled, and bugs can be diagnosed. Access to it is restricted to a server-side allowlist of specific accounts, checked on every single request; it is not something that can be granted from the app. The tool can also delete a deck or a quiz, and every deletion it performs is recorded in our server log with who did it and to which account.
The tool does not open the images and audio you attach. It can see how many files an account has stored and how much space they take, nothing more. Your attachments stay behind the per-account check described above.
Your account and learning data are kept until you delete them. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app: this immediately and permanently erases your profile, decks, cards, quizzes, progress, uploaded media, and sign-in record from our systems. Purchase records held by Apple, Google, and our payment processor RevenueCat are kept as their billing rules require. Guest accounts that are never signed in to may be removed after a period of inactivity.
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. The fastest way to delete everything is the in-app Delete account button; you can also write to barishasdemir@gmail.com from the address on your account and we will action it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Permana is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top will change and the app will point you at the new version. Continuing to use Permana after that means you accept the updated policy.
